Casa Loma is a 1914 castle at 1 Austin Terrace in midtown Toronto, run as a museum by day and hired out for weddings, galas and corporate dinners in the evening. Its own pages describe five event spaces: the Great Hall, the Library, the Conservatory, the outdoor Terrace and gardens, and a seasonal Glass Pavilion. The castle publishes no guest capacities, so numbers come from its events team. Parking is a flat-rate lot on site, and Dupont station is two blocks away. This guide collects the public facts a planner needs, then explains what a photo booth, a backdrop or a photographer needs inside a heritage building.

What Casa Loma is

Casa Loma was completed in 1914 as the home of Sir Henry Pellatt and is now one of Toronto’s best known landmarks. The castle sits on five acres of estate gardens just south of St. Clair Avenue off Spadina Road, and is open to visitors daily from 9:30 am to 5 pm. The venue’s website is published by Liberty Entertainment Group, the hospitality group whose other venues include the BlueBlood Steakhouse inside the castle. Private events are booked through the castle’s events office (events@casaloma.ca) and a private events inquiry form.

Because the castle is a public attraction until 5 pm, evening events are the norm for weddings and galas. The venue’s pages do not publish the exact hour vendors may arrive, so ask the events team for the load-in window before you book any supplier who needs setup time.

Event spaces named on the venue’s site

Casa Loma’s weddings and social events page and its corporate events page describe the following rooms. None of the pages gives seated or reception capacities, so treat guest counts as a question for the venue.

SpaceWhat the venue says about itTypical use
Great HallA 60 ft high oak-beamed ceiling and a 40 ft bay windowGrand entrance, receptions, dinners
LibraryOriginal herringbone oak floors and several crystal chandeliers; the venue calls it suited to any reception or dinnerDinner and reception room
ConservatoryItalian stained glass ceiling dome, rose marble floor and a wrought iron fountain; daytime ceremonies, a dance room by nightCeremonies, dancing
Terrace and gardensAn outdoor terrace above the city with downtown views and five acres of gardens with fountains and sculpturesCeremonies, cocktails, photos
Glass PavilionA fully enclosed seasonal structure on the lower terrace, offered from late May to mid-SeptemberSummer receptions

The venue describes the Conservatory as the daytime ceremony room that becomes the dance room in the evening. That one detail matters for anyone bringing equipment: whatever sits in the Conservatory for the ceremony will be moved or worked around during the room flip.

Getting there and parking

The castle’s directions page is the source for everything below, as of November 2026.

  • On-site parking: paid, at a flat rate of $20 per vehicle, payable by cash, credit or debit. The page does not say how many spaces the lots hold.
  • East lot: used for coaches and pick-up and drop-off, and open for general parking after 5 pm daily. Taxis and rideshare vehicles may enter it free for drop-off, which is useful for guests arriving in formal wear.
  • Accessible parking: two wheelchair-accessible spots in the West lot.
  • Overflow: paid parking at George Brown College, south of the castle off Macpherson Avenue.
  • Subway: Dupont station is two blocks south on Spadina Avenue, reached by the Baldwin Steps (110 steps). St. Clair West station is about a 15-minute walk. From Spadina station, the 127 Davenport bus stops at Davenport and Spadina.
  • Driving: from the 401, take Allen Road south to Eglinton Avenue West, east to Spadina Road, then south; the castle is just south of St. Clair Avenue.

For guests, the practical advice is simple: anyone driving should expect to pay the flat rate, and anyone in a taxi should use the East lot entrance. For vendors, the directions page does not describe a loading dock, so confirm where equipment vehicles may stop and for how long.

Accessibility inside the castle

The same page lists a wheelchair ramp with a handrail at the main entrance on Austin Terrace, a staff-operated elevator to the basement, second and third floors (reserved for visitors who cannot use stairs), accessible washrooms on the main floor, and a limited number of free wheelchairs. The lower garden terrace is reached through the East Garden gate or from the Great Hall and Library on the main floor. The 800 ft tunnel to the stables and the towers’ spiral staircases are stairs only. Event spaces are mostly on the main floor and the terrace, which keeps the main route accessible for guests and for equipment on wheels.

What a photo booth or decor setup needs at a heritage venue

Casa Loma’s pages do not publish vendor rules, so the notes below are general practice for any heritage building. Confirm each point with the events team before the day.

Power

Most booths run from one standard 120 V outlet within about 15 ft of the booth position. In an older building, outlets can be scarce and far from the spot you want, so ask where live outlets are in your room and bring a taped-down extension run rather than hoping for one by the wall. A ring light, a printer and a tablet all draw little power; a 360 platform and its lighting draw more, so keep it on its own outlet.

Footprint

An open-air booth such as the Signature Classic, a Mirror Booth or a Glam Booth works in about a 10 by 10 ft area with a backdrop against a wall. A 360 Video Booth needs a clear 10 by 10 ft area with about 9 ft of overhead clearance and a flat floor, which the Great Hall’s 60 ft ceiling easily gives. In the Library, a booth along a panelled wall keeps the chandeliers in the frame. The Conservatory’s stained glass dome photographs well by day, but it becomes the dance floor at night, so a booth there has to move before dancing starts.

Protecting the finishes

Heritage rooms mean no tape, adhesive, pins or nails on wood panelling, plaster or marble. Backdrops and flower walls should be freestanding with weighted bases, and anything on a marble floor should sit on a mat or on felt. Outdoors on the terrace or in the gardens, use sandbags rather than stakes, and plan for wind on a free-standing backdrop. Sequin, drape and flower-wall backdrops all work when they stand on their own frame.

Load-in and timing

The castle is open to visitors until 5 pm, so evening events have a short window between closing and guest arrival. Ask the venue for the vendor arrival time, the entrance for cases, whether an elevator is available for wheeled gear and where a vehicle may stop. An attendant who knows the room assignment, the outlet and the backdrop position before arriving sets up in under an hour.

Paperwork

Many Toronto venues ask vendors for a certificate of insurance before the event. Just Great Events carries $2 million in liability insurance and can send the certificate to the venue in advance.

Which services suit Casa Loma

For the event itself, see our wedding photo booth page for receptions and our corporate event page for galas, dinners and award nights. If you want one team to plan the whole evening, our corporate event planning page explains how that works.

Questions people ask

Can you get married at Casa Loma?
Yes. The venue’s weddings page describes ceremonies in the Conservatory by day, on the outdoor terrace or on the estate grounds, with the reception in the castle’s rooms. Inquiries go to events@casaloma.ca or the private events form on casaloma.ca.
Can you rent out Casa Loma for a private event?
Yes. Casa Loma hosts private weddings, social events, corporate events and film and photo shoots, booked through its events office. The castle is open to the public daily until 5 pm, so private events are generally evening bookings; the events team confirms availability.
How much does it cost to rent Casa Loma?
The venue does not publish rental prices on its website. It offers wedding and corporate packages on request, and the events team quotes each event based on the date, the rooms and the catering.
Is there parking at Casa Loma?
Yes. On-site parking is paid at a flat rate of $20 per vehicle, the East lot opens for general parking after 5 pm, and overflow parking is at George Brown College off Macpherson Avenue. Taxis and rideshares drop off free in the East lot.
How many guests can Casa Loma hold?
The venue’s pages do not publish capacities for any room. Ask the events team for seated and reception numbers for the Great Hall, the Library, the Conservatory and the Glass Pavilion.
Can a photo booth be set up inside Casa Loma?
Booths are freestanding and need one standard outlet and about a 10 by 10 ft area, which suits the castle’s main-floor rooms. Vendor rules, arrival times and the vehicle stop are confirmed with the events team before the event.
